Thread Lift: The Treatment
The patient undergoes a preliminary consultation, during which the areas to be treated are identified and analyzed. The actual treatment then follows, taking 20 to 40 minutes, depending on the number of threads to be inserted. It is performed in a clinical setting using a mild local anesthetic. The procedure requires no incisions and is virtually painless.
The threads are inserted using ultra-thin hypodermic needles that deposit the threads into the tissue, creating a mesh in the treated area. The threads in question are made of Polydioxanone (PDO), a hypoallergenic and biocompatible material that supports cellular cohesion and is completely resorbable. They temporarily remain in the subcutaneous tissue, producing an instant lifting effect and gradually stimulating the natural production of new collagen, which is known to be the primary protein responsible for the health of connective tissue.
In fact, the threads are resorbed within 4 to 6 months, but their action continues for about a year due to the fibrosis they induce an internal and invisible scar that serves to maintain tissue positioning. This effect lasts a long time due to the body’s natural response, as the result is not only due to how long the threads remain in place but also to the endogenous stimulation caused by the implantation.
This technique lifts the skin of the eyebrows, cheekbones, cheeks and neck, while almost entirely avoiding swelling and bruising, allowing in most cases for the immediate resumption of normal social life.
